In response to this article, I believe tourism has negative impacts on National Parks. First, by increasing the number of people who attend a park, you are increasing the probability of vandalism on federal objects to occur. The number of cases regarding vandalism at National Parks has increased over the last few decades. And now with more people going to these areas, it becomes easier for people to perform these acts and get away with it. Second, more roads, parking lots, cabins, lodges, and camp sites have to be built in response to the ever increasing number of tourists. To me, this takes away the conservation and preservation of a park. We have already seen in Yosemite and Yellowstone that they are getting overcrowded, and they are having negative side effects as a result. This is why we need to start acting now. We need to control the number of tourists that go to these protected areas each year.
