Mvuu Camp Safari Lodge, Liwonde National Park Malawi | Game Viewing
Mvuu Camp is located on the bank of the Shire river and is regarded as one of Malawi's premier game destinations. It stands within a group of large baobab trees, with large Nile crocodiles lining the river bank nearby. Warthogs graze in the camp during the day, hippos by night, while elephants regularly come to drink on the opposite bank. Both the river and surrounding bush are rich in bird life. Stone chalets provide very comfortable accommodation, all en suite with a private balcony facing the river. A campsite is attached with mosquito proofed tents. Facilities include a swimming pool, dining room under thatch and gift shop.
The camp is part of the Wilderness Safaris ecotourism company that helps protect Africa's spectacular wildlife heritage and shares the benefits of tourism with local communities.
The area is superb for elephant, hippo and crocodile during the drier months in the middle of the year. Kudu, sable, impala, waterbuck and warthog are seen as well as serval, civet, mongoose and genets on night drives. Baboon, vervet monkeys, bushbuck, leopard, and bushpig are also found and the birdlife is spectacular all year, including specials such as Böhm's Bee-eater. Activities may include:
