Garrotxa volcano
A field investigation into the type of volcanic activity in the Garrotxa region and its impact upon the landscape.

Objectives include the study of the stages of the volcanic eruptions, the anatomy of the volcano and the nature of the volcanic rocks.

Landforms studied include volcanic craters, pyroclastic deposits, lava flows and tossols.

A walk through the volcanic landscape to the medieval village of Santa Pau forms one of the highlights of the day.

Garrotxa Volcanic Park

This fieldwork study is supported with secondary data and takes a full day.
