History Museum of Barcelona
The Barcelona City History Museum (Museo de Historia de Barcelona) was created in 1999, with its main objective being the preservation, research, documentation, presentation and dissemination of the historical heritage of the city. The museum's headquarters are located on Plaça del Rei, in the Barcelona Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic).
The Museum's archaeological basement of 4000 square metres contains the remains of the original Roman settlement that was located on the site. This provides insight into life in the Roman colony and Barcelona's origins in Roman times until the present day.
Opening hours: 10.00-19.00 Tuesday-Sunday. Closed Mondays.
Entrance to the History Museum is free for school groups, dependent upon pre-booking and availability.
