Polar Chart Overlays Maker

This Polar Chart Overlays Maker creates circular charts to display two opaque polygons with values based on distribution and frequency of angles data (from 0 to 359 degrees). Axes radiate out from the centre point of the circle like spokes on a wheel. Each axis represents an angle, with values increasing outwards. The data for each angle are plotted as a point on the corresponding axis and points are connected to form a shaded polygon.

Polar charts display values for a single category based on distribution and frequency of numeric compass directions. Polar chart overlays help to analyse data from two or more contrasting field study sites. Differences in the polygon shapes reflect changes in the underlying category values. The extent of overlap helps clarify the differences and similarities between the sites.

Enter your data in the calculator below, in clockwise order of size. Click the 'Calculate' followed by 'Open Polar Chart' buttons and your Polar Chart Overlays will open in a new window. A menu appears above the chart offering several options, including downloading an image. Hover over the chart to display the data.
