There have been 259 new deaths registered since Friday, and 675 in the last seven days. The total deaths in the pandemic rises to 93,225. The data exclude deaths in residences and those who had symptoms compatible with Covid-19 but did not undergo a diagnostic test.

The case fatality rate has a strong downward trend after 3 months of little change. It today stands at 0.936 deaths per 100 diagnosed infections.

There have been increases in both the number of coronavirus patients admitted to hospitals throughout Spain (18,735, 342 more) and those in intensive care units (2,107, 47 more). The occupancy rate for beds taken by coronavirus patients in Spain has increased from 14.75% to 15.05%, and in intensive care units, from 21.77% to 22.28%.

A total of 39,106,058 people (82% of the Spanish population) have been vaccinated. This includes 38,289,398 (81% of the population) who have received their full schedule.

In Catalonia, the epidemic is in regression with the speed of growth (RT) slowing from 0.96 to 0.87. The cumulative incidence rate of the coronavirus in 14 days has decreased from 5,911.82 to 5,794.14 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. There have been 6,908 new infections and no deaths registered today, with an increase in the number of hospitalised patients (3,042, 100 more) and those requiring intensive care (463) unchanged from yesterday. The count of covid hospital admissions does not include those admitted for other reasons and who later test positive.

A total of 6,460,895 (84% of the population of Catalonia) have been vaccinated. This includes 6,182,243 (80% of the population) who have received their full schedule, and 3,014,074 (39%) who have received a third dose.

In Catalonia, the requirement for covid passports in bars and restaurants has been lifted. Only night venues are left out of the de-escalation of restrictions, and will remain closed for at least one more week. The covid passport remains mandatory for international travel.
